XPAT LedgerReal money, real budget

For people paid in one currency, living on another

What your income really becomes

The rate on Google is not the rate you get. Between it and money in your hand sits a stack of leaks — the transfer spread, ATM fees, card FX, and a rate that drifts every week. XPAT Ledger works out your real rate, turns it into a budget you can actually hold, and reads your receipts so you never type one.

See everything it does · Free · No sign-up · Your ledger never leaves your phone

1 · Your real rate, not the headline Enter what you earn and how you move it. See what actually lands each month, your true effective rate, and exactly what the leaks cost you.
2 · A budget you can hold Split the landed amount into envelopes — rent, food, school, whatever you use. Get a daily allowance, and a plain RED or GREEN on whether this month is on pace.
3 · Snap & Go Photograph a receipt and the total is read for you — no typing. Awkward currencies, faded thermal paper and decimal commas included. Check the number and carry on.
Where your money data lives

On your phone. There is no account, no sign-in, no tracking and no analytics — we could not look at your ledger if we wanted to, because it never reaches us. The one exception is a receipt you choose to scan, which is sent to a vision model purely to read its total. That is set out plainly in the Privacy policy, including which model and what it means.

Getting the money there

No single rail wins at everything, and the honest answer depends on whether you're moving money every month, sending a one-off, or just want pesos in your hand. Step 1 does the arithmetic once you pick one — this is what each is actually good at.

Wise Best for the money you move every month. Publishes the mid-market rate and charges a visible percentage on top, so there are no surprises to reverse-engineer. Pays out to Philippine bank accounts and to GCash.
Remitly Often better on one-offs and first transfers. Built around remittance corridors like the Philippines, with promotional rates, cash pickup and GCash — but the rate is less consistent month to month, so it rewards checking rather than setting and forgetting.
A fee-refunding ATM card Frequently the cheapest way to get cash in hand, and it isn't a transfer service at all. Cards that rebate ATM fees (Charles Schwab's checking account is the long-standing expat pick) leave you paying roughly the card network's ~1% FX. That matters here because Philippine ATMs charge a fee per withdrawal and cap you at a low amount, so unrebated fees stack up fast.

Nothing here is paid placement, and none of these links earn us anything. If that ever changes, this box will say so in plain words. Fees and promotional rates move constantly — treat the above as where to look, not as quotes, and edit the fee assumptions in Step 1 for whichever rail you actually use.

Step 3 · the charge check

?Can you afford this charge?

About to pay for something? Type the price and see what it does to this month — days of your allowance, a share of an envelope, and what it really costs back in your home currency. Nothing is saved.

Step 4 · the drift signal

ΔOn track, or is the rate squeezing you?

Set the rate you planned your budget around. The tool compares it to today's rate and tells you, in plain words, how the move hits this month.

Your AI, your data, your lock

Your own AI — optional

Point XPAT at any vision model you run and the photo goes straight from this device to your model — it never touches our servers. Leave blank to use ours instead. Works with Ollama, LM Studio, MLX, llama.cpp or vLLM (any OpenAI-compatible endpoint).

Base URL or full /chat/completions.
Any vision model your runner has loaded.
Kept on this device and sent only to your endpoint.

Your data — back up & restore

Everything lives in this browser, on this device. Lose the phone and you lose the archive — so park a backup somewhere of your own. Receipts can matter for years: tax authorities commonly expect 3 to 10. The file is plain JSON with your photos inside it; nothing is uploaded to make it.

Or take just the expenses out as a spreadsheet — one row per receipt, for a tax year, in a form an accountant can open. Price quotes are left out: a price you considered is not an expense.

Lock this app with a PIN

Ask for a 4-digit PIN before showing your ledger on this device. Being straight about what this is: a curtain, not a lock. XPAT runs entirely in your browser, so anyone who knows how can read straight past it. It keeps a borrowed phone or a curious houseguest out of your figures — it does not protect these records from someone determined, and it is not a substitute for the backup file.
